LADWP customers may be eligible, subject to program availability, for $1,000 to $1,250 per ton on qualifying central ducted, split, and packaged heat pump systems, or $1,500 to $2,500 per ton on qualifying ductless mini-split and multi-split systems that serve the entire home.
These increased rates apply to qualifying equipment purchased and installed on or after November 1, 2025, and the amount depends on the AHRI-matched system’s SEER2 and HSPF2 ratings. Qualifying central air conditioning systems receive $100 to $120 per ton. Burbank Water and Power offers $1,000 per ton up to $2,500 for standard customers, and up to $5,000 for income-qualified residents and affordable housing providers.
SCE offers a $75 smart thermostat enrollment bill credit, with up to $125 total available through ongoing participation. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (Section 25C) applied only to improvements made through December 31, 2025 and is not available for 2026 installations.
Affordable Heating and Air helps customers identify and apply for current rebates. Verify program availability before scheduling.
Yes. Modern heat pumps operate efficiently at temperatures far below anything a Southern California winter produces. A properly sized heat pump provides both heating and cooling in a single system and, subject to program availability, may qualify for LADWP rebates of $1,000 to $1,250 per ton on qualifying central ducted systems, or $1,500 to $2,500 per ton on qualifying ductless mini-split systems that serve the entire home.
Set your HVAC system to recirculation mode to limit outdoor air intake, upgrade to MERV 13 or higher filters if your system supports them, and schedule a professional duct cleaning if smoke has entered your home. Affordable Heating and Air also installs whole-home air purifiers, such as iWave and REME HALO, for continuous protection against wildfire smoke and other airborne pollutants.
As a general guide, if your system is under 10 years old and the repair costs less than $500, repair is usually the right choice. If the system is 15 or more years old and a repair would cost more than half the price of replacement, replacement typically makes better financial sense, especially with current LADWP heat pump rebates available to offset the cost. Our technicians provide an honest assessment based on your system’s actual condition.

Upon arrival, the client reported that another company had charged the system with refrigerant, but it stopped working properly after a few days. She had noticed the outdoor unit thawing and took a picture as evidence. The system in question is a Fujitsu mini split, consisting of one wall unit and two ceiling fan coils connected via a single line set to the condenser. Upon inspection, I found the system to be severely low on refrigerant. I informed the client that a like-for-like replacement would be necessary. Additionally, I contacted Johnstone, who supplies Fujitsu systems, and learned that Fujitsu does not manufacture any branch boxes for the new refrigerant, necessitating a direct connection to the condenser. I also consulted with a Carrier representative, who confirmed that a Carrier system could replace the Fujitsu system but has strict requirements regarding the size of the line set.

During the HVAC inspection, I tested a 1990s 1.5-ton fan-coil heat-pump system. Cooling mode functioned correctly, but heating mode failed as the rooftop condenser did not start. Power and a 24-volt heating signal reached the outdoor control board, but the reversing-valve relay did not switch. Due to the system's age and condition, repairs are not advised. Replacement parts may be hard to find, and any repair would be temporary. A complete system replacement is recommended for reliable long-term performance.
I successfully completed the replacement of an electric package unit. The process began with the removal and disposal of the existing equipment. I then installed a 3-ton 14 SEER heat pump package unit, ensuring all components were securely mounted. An electrical service disconnect box was installed, followed by the setup of an electrical whip. The existing condensation line was blown out, and a Trane thermostat was installed if needed. Connections were made to the existing electrical circuit, low voltage line, and supply plenum on the roof. The new unit comes with Trane's standard 10-year manufacturer warranties and a 1-year labor warranty. Payment was structured with a 10% deposit, 70% upon crew arrival, and 20% upon equipment startup.

I recently completed an electric package unit changeout, ensuring a seamless transition for the client. The process began with the removal and disposal of the existing equipment. Next, I installed a 3-ton heat pump package unit, followed by setting up the electrical service disconnect box and installing the electrical whip. I also blew out the existing condensation line and installed a Braeburn thermostat if needed. The unit was then connected to the existing electrical circuit, low voltage line, supply plenum, and return on the roof. The installation included Goodman's standard 10-year warranties, a 1-year labor warranty, and the cost of permits and HERS tests. Payment was structured with a 10% deposit, 70% upon crew arrival, and 20% upon equipment start-up.
Jan Michael, the technician who addressed our HVAC proactive maintenance requirements, was very professional and shared with us each of the activities he was performing and why. Was on time, and very easy to speak with.
My AC unit quit blowing cold air and a friend gave me Affordable's name. They gave me a two hour arrival window of 10am to noon and their technician Jeremy showed up at 10:15 with his assistant Jason. Jeremy diagnosed the problem in about 3 minutes, had the part (a capacitor) in his truck, and fixed it right away. Both guys were very polite, wore shoe covers to walk through my house, and even offered to change my dirty furnace filter if I had one available (unfortunately I did not). Jeremy was exceptionally knowledgeable and I will definitely ask for him again when I need HVAC service.
Excellent Service
