California is moving decisively toward heat pumps. Between updated Title 24 building energy standards and the ongoing transition away from older refrigerants under EPA rules, a heat pump isn’t just the energy-smart choice — it’s increasingly the future-proof one. For LADWP customers in Los Angeles, the timing has never been better to act.
Don’t miss out. Check Rebate Availability.
Multiple programs can be combined on a single installation where program rules allow, which means your total incentive can add up quickly on a 3- or 4-ton system.
A note on federal tax credits: The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (Section 25C) applied to qualifying installations completed through December 31, 2025, and is not available for 2026 installations. If you installed a qualifying system in 2025, that credit may still be claimable on your 2025 return — consult a tax professional.
We identify every program you qualify for, prepare the rebate paperwork, and submit applications on your behalf wherever the program allows. Rebate funding is limited and approved on a first-come, first-served basis.

LADWP customers may be eligible, subject to program availability, for up to $2,500 per ton on qualifying heat pump HVAC systems purchased and installed on or after November 1, 2025, and $100 to $120 per ton on standard high-efficiency systems. Burbank Water and Power offers $1,000 per ton up to $2,500 for standard customers, and up to $5,000 for income-qualified residents and affordable housing providers. SCE offers a $75 smart thermostat enrollment bill credit, with up to $125 total available through ongoing participation. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (Section 25C) applied only to improvements made through December 31, 2025 and is not available for 2026 installations. Affordable Heating and Air helps customers identify and apply for current rebates. Verify program availability before scheduling.
Yes. Modern heat pumps operate efficiently at temperatures far below anything a Southern California winter produces. A properly sized heat pump provides both heating and cooling in a single system and, subject to program availability, may qualify for LADWP rebates of up to $2,500 per ton on qualifying installations.
Set your HVAC system to recirculation mode to limit outdoor air intake, upgrade to MERV 13 or higher filters if your system supports them, and schedule a professional duct cleaning if smoke has entered your home. Affordable Heating and Air also installs whole-home air purifiers, such as iWave and REME HALO, for continuous protection against wildfire smoke and other airborne pollutants.
As a general guide, if your system is under 10 years old and the repair costs less than $500, repair is usually the right choice. If the system is 15 or more years old and a repair would cost more than half the price of replacement, replacement typically makes better financial sense, especially with current LADWP heat pump rebates available to offset the cost. Our technicians provide an honest assessment based on your system’s actual condition.

Our Chatsworth office covers the San Fernando Valley and Greater Los Angeles, including Northridge, Granada Hills, Porter Ranch, Van Nuys, Glendale, and Santa Clarita. Our Simi Valley office serves Ventura County communities including Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, and Camarillo.

Upon arrival, I conducted a thorough inspection of the system, identifying potential issues that were not immediately apparent. After analyzing the symptoms, I determined that a deeper investigation was necessary. I communicated my findings to the customer and explained the need for a second opinion. I arranged for another technician to visit and provide a detailed diagnosis. This collaborative approach ensured that all possible causes were explored, leading to an accurate assessment and effective resolution of the problem.

Upon inspection of the 2013 Carrier condenser system, it was determined that the refrigerant charge was zero. The system was utilizing R-410A refrigerant, which is no longer recommended for new installations due to environmental concerns and efficiency issues. After a thorough evaluation, it was concluded that replacing the condenser system with a more modern, eco-friendly refrigerant would be the best course of action. This replacement will enhance the system's efficiency and ensure compliance with current environmental standards.

I carefully inspected the condensation line to identify any blockages or debris that could be hindering proper drainage. Using specialized tools, I gently flushed the line with a cleaning solution to dissolve any mineral deposits or buildup. After ensuring the line was clear, I tested the system to confirm that water was flowing freely and efficiently. This maintenance not only prevents potential water damage but also enhances the overall performance and longevity of the unit.

I conducted a comprehensive preventative maintenance AC tune-up, starting with a thorough inspection of the entire system. This included checking the electrical components, refrigerant levels, and the condition of the coils. I cleaned the evaporator and condenser coils to ensure optimal heat transfer and efficiency. The air filter was replaced with a high-quality one to improve air quality and system performance. I also inspected and cleaned the condensate drain to prevent clogs and leaks. Additionally, I lubricated the motor and checked all moving parts for smooth operation. Finally, I tested the thermostat and controls to ensure they were functioning correctly. This detailed maintenance helps extend the life of the system and ensures it operates efficiently.
On 07/20/26, I performed a repair involving the replacement of the 1/4 inch water regulator and the float switch. First, I removed the old float switch, ensuring all connections were safely disconnected. Next, I removed the old 1/4 inch water regulator, taking care to note its condition for future reference. Following this, I installed the new float switch, making sure it was securely attached and functioning correctly. I then installed the new 1/4 inch water regulator, ensuring it was properly calibrated and connected. Throughout the process, I communicated with the owner that this was a temporary fix and clarified that I did not install the original equipment. Payment was made in cash/check, with a 50% deposit upfront and the remaining 50% upon completion.
Jan Michael was a really nice guy! He was kind and patient with my 80 year old mother too who wants to know every little detail about what he was doing. He was friendly and took the time to explain everything he was doing. He was also very clean, well put together and he smelled good too. Mom and I were very impressed with him and we also appreciated how quickly and efficiently he solved our problem. Mom doesn't always trust or like repair men, but she liked Jan. If we could give Jan more than 5 stars we would. Great guy
Totally perfect service. Same day and responsive! our AC running cool now
