LADWP customers may be eligible, subject to program availability, for $1,000 to $1,250 per ton on qualifying central ducted, split, and packaged heat pump systems, or $1,500 to $2,500 per ton on qualifying ductless mini-split and multi-split systems that serve the entire home.
These increased rates apply to qualifying equipment purchased and installed on or after November 1, 2025, and the amount depends on the AHRI-matched system’s SEER2 and HSPF2 ratings. Qualifying central air conditioning systems receive $100 to $120 per ton. Burbank Water and Power offers $1,000 per ton up to $2,500 for standard customers, and up to $5,000 for income-qualified residents and affordable housing providers.
SCE offers a $75 smart thermostat enrollment bill credit, with up to $125 total available through ongoing participation. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (Section 25C) applied only to improvements made through December 31, 2025 and is not available for 2026 installations.

Yes. Modern heat pumps operate efficiently at temperatures far below anything a Southern California winter produces. A properly sized heat pump provides both heating and cooling in a single system and, subject to program availability, may qualify for LADWP rebates of $1,000 to $1,250 per ton on qualifying central ducted systems, or $1,500 to $2,500 per ton on qualifying ductless mini-split systems that serve the entire home.
Set your HVAC system to recirculation mode to limit outdoor air intake, upgrade to MERV 13 or higher filters if your system supports them, and schedule a professional duct cleaning if smoke has entered your home. Affordable Heating and Air also installs whole-home air purifiers, such as iWave and REME HALO, for continuous protection against wildfire smoke and other airborne pollutants.
As a general guide, if your system is under 10 years old and the repair costs less than $500, repair is usually the right choice. If the system is 15 or more years old and a repair would cost more than half the price of replacement, replacement typically makes better financial sense, especially with current LADWP heat pump rebates available to offset the cost. On the installation date, I completed the setup of a 27,000 Btu, 20 SEER2 AC PRO multi-zone mini-split heat pump condenser. This involved installing a 12,000 Btu indoor air handler in the living room and a 9,000 Btu indoor air handler in two adjacent rooms. I also installed an electrical service disconnect box, electrical whip, line, and breaker. Additionally, I installed line-set for the mini-split, covered it with plastic, and set up the condenser pad and condensation pump. I blew out the existing condensation line as part of the preparation. A new voltage monitor surge protector was also installed. The work included labor and materials, covered by the AC PRO Standard Warranty with a 1-year labor warranty.

I completed a heat pump conversion, including pulling the necessary permit and conducting a HERS test. The installation involved removing and disposing of old equipment, connecting the air handler to existing electrical connections, and installing a Carrier Performance 2 TON Up To 19 SEER2 Inverter Heat Pump Condenser. Electrical components, drain pans, and safety switches were also installed. The job was completed under standard Carrier warranties, with a payment plan of 10% deposit, 70% upon crew arrival, and 20% upon equipment startup.

We replaced the existing system with a 2 Ton 24,000 BTU 18 SEER2 Daikin Entra Series Single Zone Mini Split Heat Pump Condenser and a matching 2 Ton 24,000 BTU Daikin Entra Series Air Handler. An electrical service disconnect box was installed, and the existing condensation line was blown out. The Daikin Standard 12-year warranty and 1-year labor warranty are included. Permit and HERS test costs are not included. Payment terms: 10% deposit, 70% upon crew arrival, 20% upon equipment start-up.
We completed a comprehensive heat pump conversion, including removing and disposing of old equipment. We installed a 5-ton 15.2-18 SEER Carrier inverter heat pump condenser and a matching air handler. Electrical connections, whips, and a condensation line were installed, along with a condenser pad and SS2 safety shut-off switch. The system was connected to existing electrical and ductwork. Carrier warranties and an extended 10-year labor warranty are included.

My AC unit quit blowing cold air and a friend gave me Affordable's name. They gave me a two hour arrival window of 10am to noon and their technician Jeremy showed up at 10:15 with his assistant Jason. Jeremy diagnosed the problem in about 3 minutes, had the part (a capacitor) in his truck, and fixed it right away. Both guys were very polite, wore shoe covers to walk through my house, and even offered to change my dirty furnace filter if I had one available (unfortunately I did not). Jeremy was exceptionally knowledgeable and I will definitely ask for him again when I need HVAC service.
