SoCalGas customers may qualify for a rebate on an ENERGY STAR-certified gas furnace of 92% AFUE or higher, calculated per thousand Btu/h of capacity: $1.40 at 92 to 94% AFUE, $10 at 95 to 96%, and $25 at 97% or higher, plus $75 for a qualifying smart thermostat.
For an 80,000 Btu/h furnace, that works out to about $112, $800, or $2,000 per tier.
The furnace must be installed by a licensed contractor with permit closure proof. Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis through December 31, 2026, and amounts and eligibility may change. Confirm before buying.

If your air conditioner is old, you might want to consider a heat pump. One system can provide both heating and cooling. Heat pumps work best if your electrical system has sufficient capacity and your ducts are in proper condition, so they may not suit every home.
Most homes in Chatsworth use LADWP for electricity, but check with your provider before relying on their rebates. LADWP offers $1,000 to $1,250 per ton for qualifying central ducted heat pumps. It also offers $1,500 to $2,500 per ton for qualifying ductless systems that serve the whole house. Funds are limited.
Other programs are not available at the moment. The federal 25C tax credit has ended, and HEEHRA and TECH Clean California single-family funds are depleted. South Coast AQMD approved new GO ZERO funding on October 2, 2026, but the application portal is still closed. Make sure to check the latest status of each program before making plans.
