Affordable Heating and Air tackled my complicated project involving a historic 1950’s era concrete block house with ductwork buried behind concrete, with very limited work space and an old 100 amp panel upgrade. They are extremely knowledgeable, professional, licensed and bonded and they were very courteous with my tenants. I highly recommend Affordable Heating and Air located in Chatsworth, CA.

The 5 star review is strictly a review of the tech that came to my home to do the inspection. His name was Jan and he was fantastic! He quickly figured out the issue with my AC unit and explained the process of fixing it in terms that I could understand. I ultimately did not go with Affordable AC because the pricing was… less than affordable. I understand there’s a premium on part sourcing if you run a business with many employees, so I can’t fault them for being expensive, however “affordable” is in their name… sooo, take what you will from that! I’m sure had I gone with this business they would’ve done an excellent job, but it was too pricey after research on the parts and labor they were quoting.

I recently had a bad experience with this company and left a deserved bad review. The company contacted me immediately and asked what they could do to regain our trust, so they sent someone out to take care of our documented problems with the HVAC installation. They did a great job fixing the problem free of charge, so I felt it necessary to show my thanks by changing my initial review.

I had a real problem with the installer of an air and heat unit that stopped working. They refused my calls so I went looking for someone and found affordable Heating And Air. They gave me a great deal with a real good warranty. Not only that but they worked long hours to take the bad unit out and replace it with a good unit. I couldn't be happier. Thanks again Martin. Glad to have found you.

The furnace of our heating system hasn’t been working since February 2026. We were not concerned at that time because the weather was getting warmer, but we had it checked anyway by someone from the company that installed it some 15+ years ago. The technician told us that the problem was the inducer motor. He said it had to be replaced (we paid $99 for the check-up). Total quote was $1,100+. Recently, we had another technician from another company check it out for us (we paid $125). He said same thing - inducer motor problem. He quoted us $2,400+ for the “Inducer Assembly Variable Speed OEM with Gasket” - parts and labor. Then, we contacted Affordable Heating & Air. They negotiated for them to do the inspection for free. The technician, Javier Colmenero, came out and inspected the system. He said that he didn’t see any problem with the inducer motor. Instead, he said the problem was with a damaged capacitor. He quoted us between $400 and $450 for labor and parts. We agreed, and he did it after a few days. Our heater now works. Javier did a great job, and he saved us money. As their name indicates, Affordable Heating & Air - they are very affordable. Not only that, they just don’t guess of what the problem is. Javier did a thorough inspection. Thank you very much.

2026 LADWP Heat-Pump Rebates: Rates Vary by System Type

California is moving decisively toward heat pumps. Between updated Title 24 building energy standards and the ongoing transition away from older refrigerants under EPA rules, a heat pump isn’t just the energy-smart choice — it’s increasingly the future-proof one.

For LADWP customers in Los Angeles, the timing has never been better to act.

Don’t miss out. Check Rebate Availability.

Currently Active Rebate Programs — 2026:

  • LADWP Heat-Pump HVAC: Qualifying central ducted, split, and packaged heat-pump systems receive $1,000–$1,250 per ton.

    Qualifying ductless mini-split and multi-split systems (20.5+ SEER2 / 9.1+ HSPF2) receive $1,500–$2,500 per ton.

These increased rates apply to qualifying equipment purchased and installed on or after November 1, 2025. The amount depends on the AHRI-matched system’s SEER2 and HSPF2 ratings.

Standard high-efficiency air conditioners may qualify for $100 to $120 per ton.

  • Burbank Water and Power: Qualifying heat-pump systems receive $1,000 per ton, up to $2,500 for standard customers and up to $5,000 for low-income residents and affordable housing providers.

  • Southern California Edison: Eligible customers can receive a one-time $75 Smart Energy Program enrollment credit plus up to $50 in annual bill credits for maintaining qualifying enrollment from June 1 through September 30.
  • SoCalGas: Qualifying ENERGY STAR-certified natural-gas furnaces may receive $1.40–$25 per kBtuh, depending on AFUE. Program eligibility, licensed contractor status, and permit requirements apply.

  • LADWP Smart Thermostat Purchase Rebate: Up to $100 for qualifying ENERGY STAR smart thermostats purchased during the June 1–September 30, 2026, eligibility period. Applications must meet the current program deadline and requirements.

  • LADWP Power Savers: Eligible participants receive a one-time $55 enrollment incentive after acceptance and may earn an additional annual participation incentive of up to $90, for a maximum first-year incentive of $145.

Federal Tax Credit Update

The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (Section 25C) applies to qualifying installations completed through December 31, 2025, and is not available for installations completed in 2026. If you installed a qualifying system in 2025, that credit may still be claimable on your 2025 return — consult a tax professional.

We identify every program you qualify for, prepare the rebate paperwork, and submit applications on your behalf wherever programs allow. Rebate funding is limited and approved on a first-come, first-served basis.

FAQs About Los Angeles HVAC Services

Q: Do you offer 24/7 emergency HVAC service in Los Angeles and Ventura County?

Yes. Affordable Heating and Air provides true 24/7 emergency HVAC repair by phone dispatch across Los Angeles and Ventura County. Our emergency line is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our physical offices in Chatsworth and Simi Valley are staffed during regular business hours, but emergency repairs are dispatched any time, day or night. Call (818) 722-1332 for Los Angeles County or (805) 755-4074 for Ventura County.

The rebates you can get depend on your utility company, the type of equipment you install, its efficiency, and your household’s eligibility. If you’re an LADWP customer, you might get up to $2,500 per ton for qualifying heat-pump HVAC systems.

Standard Burbank Water and Power customers can receive $1,000 per ton, up to $2,500. Low-income Burbank residents and affordable-housing providers may be eligible for up to $5,000.

If you’re an SCE customer, you may also qualify for a $75 credit when you enroll in a smart thermostat, plus up to $50 each year for participating. The federal Section 25C home-improvement tax credits usually ended for property installed after December 31, 2025.

Rebate amounts, eligibility, and deadlines can change, so be sure to check the latest California HVAC rebate information before you schedule your installation.

Yes. Modern heat pumps operate efficiently at temperatures far below anything a Southern California winter produces. A properly sized heat pump provides both heating and cooling in a single system and, subject to program availability, may qualify for LADWP rebates of $1,000 to $1,250 per ton on qualifying central ducted systems, or $1,500 to $2,500 per ton on qualifying ductless mini-split systems (20.5+ SEER2 / 9.1+ HSPF2).

.

Set your HVAC system to recirculation mode to limit outdoor air intake, upgrade to MERV 13 or higher filters if your system supports them, and schedule a professional duct cleaning if smoke has entered your home. Affordable Heating and Air also installs whole-home air purifiers, such as iWave and REME HALO, for continuous protection against wildfire smoke and other airborne pollutants.

As a general guide, if your system is under 10 years old and the repair costs less than $500, repair is usually the right choice. If the system is 15 or more years old and a repair would cost more than half the price of replacement, replacement typically makes better financial sense, especially with current LADWP heat pump rebates available to offset the cost. Our technicians provide an honest assessment based on your system’s actual condition.

We serve Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Our Chatsworth office covers the San Fernando Valley and Greater Los Angeles, including Northridge, Granada Hills, Porter Ranch, Van Nuys, Glendale, and Santa Clarita. Our Simi Valley office serves Ventura County communities including Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, and Camarillo.

They live up to their name in that they’re an inexpensive option. Unfortunately that comes at a cost. The business office and the business practices leaves a bit to be desired. I received an email essentially begging me for my business. When I tried to reach Gene, they were nowhere to be found. The person that I did get on the phone (Lorraine) with was ill informed and I caught her in a few lies that were easily verifiable. The “tech”that came out initially to fix my AC (Benji) was a salesperson with the pretense to sell me a new unit rather than repair it. He had a gruff personality and when I questioned why something was on my proposal, rather than validating his recommendation (even if I truly needed it) he chose to remove the item from the proposal altogether. I had to call a friend in the industry to get an answer to a question that Benji could not answer. The tech that installed my HVAC showed up late and only did a detailed job because I was looking over his shoulder the whole time. He wanted to cut corners a few times but I did not allow this. There was however something that I needed that would’ve taken him an hour or so of additional work that he refused to do. He lied to me and his boss and said it couldn’t be done. (2 other installers told me it could and should be done). When I called the office to let them know what was going on here I spoke to Leon who was very curt and rude and of zero help. All throughout the day I heard the tech and Leon yelling and cursing at each other.Everyone in that office talks crsp about eachother. If you can handle the drama they actually did a DECENT job and had the best price.

Came out to do preventative maintenance on AC unit. Upon checking the temperature split of the system, found that there was only 11° temperature split. Upon checking the outdoor unit found that refrigerant was low and unit is leaking, and also coil was freezing. Recommended doing a pressurized leak check to find out where the leak is and repair it.

Returned today to inspect the attic duct system before installation of the new HVAC equipment. A total of eight existing supply duct runs were evaluated. Multiple ducts were found compressed, sharply bent, poorly supported and restrictive, which can reduce airflow, create uneven temperatures, increase system static pressure and negatively affect the performance of the new equipment.

Due to the age and condition of the existing duct system, replacement is strongly recommended as part of the new system installation. Recommended improvements include:

* Install a new properly sized and sealed supply plenum.
* Replace all eight supply runs with six 8-inch and two 6-inch R-8 insulated flexible ducts.
* Properly stretch, route and support the new ducts to minimize compression and airflow restriction.
* Install balancing dampers and reconnect the ducts to the existing supply registers.
* Seal all duct and plenum connections.
* Increase the existing return-air opening to approximately 20 × 30

Juan was our technician he was prompt. He called if he was going to be late he was able to tell us exactly what was wrong with the system and what we needed to do to fix it. He couldn’t do it that day, but he was able to come back the next day and completely fixed the system I would recommend him to all.
