Unpermitted work performed on new installation with poor overall craftsmanship imo. Quick when they want to get paid, but ghost you completely when you need them to come back to fix work. Learned my lesson, should have used a proper contractor with permits and inspections. Techs spoke little to no English. Also found it very pushy how every tech wanted a positive review and lingered around waiting for you to leave it in front of them. First picture is how they thought my finished trim to my attic crawl was supposed to be reinstalled. Dirty fingerprints and construction screws all the way around. Second is how they balanced my new pad on the old one.I thought it was going to be removed and a proper gravel base then new pad as discussed? 3rd picture Nm the improper electrical strapping … looks good from your house . I didn’t take the time to picture all the trash I found in the attic and in my yard stashed in hiding places.+2Posted on Google![]()

Replacing a heating and central air conditioner is never fun. But very pleased with Affordable Heating and Air from beginning to end. The price was fair, the communication was exceptional, they showed up when they said they would, and Humberto and Axzel who did the installation were professional, pleasant, conscientious, and knowledgeable. I would recommend Affordable to others without reservation.+0Posted on Google![]()

A+ for Affordable Heating and Air from start to finish. I had multiple in-home estimates for mini split AC units and I’m so glad I decided to go with this company. They work hard to earn your business, meaning I received a lot of follow up estimate emails, but I chose affordable heating and air because of my technician, Benji. He was honest, thorough and extremely patient with me through the entire process. I had a ton of questions before, during and after installation and he always responded swiftly. He’s the best, and he’s funny! The company stands by their work and their service, and their pricing was reasonable and comparable to other local companies. I highly recommend them and would use them again for other home projects!+1Posted on Google![]()

Mauricio was a breath of fresh air during an extremely stressful time. He helped us out during an emergency call, one of our AC units went out during an extreme heat wave. He gave us valuable honest options based on our situation. Our vacation rental home being occupied with a guest and it was the during the extreme heat wave! They helped us resolve the issue on the spot ! In the end our guest was happy with the turn out and had quick AC cooling that same evening! Price was also VERY fair - especially with last minute emergency call. I called my cousin in a different state to verify and he agreed with their price, that was very fair and actually very competitive! Maurico worked very quickly during this heat wave outside under the sun and we are so grateful for him and the wonderful office team!!! Invoicing, quotes and overall communication was 10 stars service. I deal with a lot of urgent situations running vacation rentals and deal with a lot of service contractors ! So nice when they understand your situation and do what it takes to solve the issue! Picture below is before! After pic coming soon!+0Posted on Google![]()

Gosh—there are so many good things I could say about Affordable Heating and Air, and it truly began with that first text message. It included a photo and let me know a technician was on the way with a personalized quote. Then Benji called to confirm—personally—that he was about 10 minutes away. I replied, “Yes, I know—and I’ll let you in since I know what you look like.” We laughed about it, but I could immediately tell this was a thoughtful, customer-first company. The moment I met Benji, his warmth and friendliness stood out right away. He genuinely wanted to understand what our family needed and what we were hoping for with our HVAC system. He was patient, thorough, and considerate—right down to being prepared with shoe covers (we’re a no-shoes household). We reviewed a few options together, talked through the pros and cons, and he even entertained one possibility that many vendors had previously told me was too expensive and not worth pursuing. Benji ultimately made that “nearly impossible” option work for us and kept everything affordable—apparently that’s not just a name, it’s how they operate. He measured carefully, walked the property, and talked through the logistics of installing a five-unit ductless mini-split system. He also made plans to remove our old rooftop packaged system. He even understood our power company’s rebate program, helping us make the “affordable” part go even further. And that was just the quote process. Benji also helped us understand the payment options, including the financing program they offer. When it came to pricing details, he even brought the owner, Donna, onto the phone so we could fully understand everything. From start to finish, everyone we encountered felt genuinely nice, respectful, and welcoming—and we never once felt pressured or overlooked. We felt comfortable, appreciated, and most importantly, heard. A few days later, Benji returned with a team that specialized in mini-splits—and they were absolutely spectacular. They were a team of four who worked together so smoothly, like a well-orchestrated performance. The entire installation was completed in a single day (though it was a long one)—there was so much done, and I was truly amazed they managed it all. And it happened just in time, right before the latest heatwave hit—today’s high was 98! Our family is thrilled with our new mini-split system. More than that, I’m genuinely grateful to Affordable Heating and Air for helping bring our vision to life—from the first thoughtful message to the final results. Thank you, and especially thank you, Benji, Donna and Davide & team, for making this such a positive experience for our home.+1Posted on Google![]()

Jasmine was very friendly and knowledgeable of the job she was performing. She also brought to my attention, future maintenance that will be needed, before the summer begins, to keep my AC working properly. She also metioned the CARE CLUB that you have, to save me money on service calls and additional discounts. Great service. Oxnard rarely gets very cold, but coastal nights and mornings can be much cooler than in inland areas. Many homes only use heaters for a few months.
Minor problems like a weak igniter, a dirty flame sensor, or a miscalibrated thermostat often remain unnoticed during the off-season. You might not notice anything wrong until the first cold night, when your system suddenly stops working, and the hidden issue finally shows up.
Living near the coast brings its own challenges. Salt in the air can accelerate corrosion on outdoor equipment, but not every Oxnard home is affected the same. It depends on how close you are to the ocean and how old your equipment is.
Older heating systems in Oxnard are especially worth checking for this reason. For general HVAC repair beyond heating, see HVAC repair in Oxnard on our broad Oxnard service page.

It’s normal to notice a dusty smell when your furnace runs for the first time after months of inactivity.
However, if you smell something burning for more than a few minutes or notice any gas odor, turn off the system, leave your home, and call for help from outside instead of waiting for an appointment.
Call (805) 755-4074 to schedule a diagnosis if you’re seeing any of these.
Ignition and pilot issues: a failed electronic igniter, pilot light problems on older equipment, or a dirty flame sensor are among the most common reasons a furnace won’t produce heat.
Airflow and comfort problems: a clogged filter, blocked vents, or duct issues can cause weak airflow and uneven room temperatures without the furnace itself being at fault.
Electrical and control issues: blower motor problems, control board faults, and limit switch concerns can all interrupt normal operation.
Thermostat problems: A miscalibrated or incorrectly wired thermostat can appear to be a failed furnace or heat pump when the equipment itself is actually fine.
Heat pump heating-mode issues: for homes with a heat pump rather than a gas furnace, symptoms differ entirely from furnace problems; see the heat pump section below.
Combustion and safety concerns: visible soot, unusual flame appearance, or heat exchanger concerns require professional evaluation rather than routine repair.
A successful repair visit always begins with a proper diagnosis. This usually involves checking the thermostat and controls, inspecting the filter and airflow, testing the blower, and checking the ignition and combustion system on gas furnaces.
In addition, it inspects the safety controls. Heat pumps focus on heating-specific issues instead of treating them like small furnaces. After finding the problem, we explain your repair options and costs before doing any work.
For more details, see our main furnace and heating repair service page.
We offer 24/7 emergency HVAC phone dispatch. Office hours are different from emergency dispatch times. If your heater stops working outside regular hours, call us to check if emergency service is available in Oxnard.
We can’t promise same-day repairs or a set arrival time, so please ask about current availability when you call, as it depends on how busy we are.
If you smell gas: leave the property immediately and call from outside, either the gas utility’s emergency line or 911. Don’t operate switches, thermostats, or appliances on your way out.
If a carbon monoxide alarm sounds: leave the property immediately and call emergency services. Don’t attempt to identify the source yourself.
Call (805) 755-4074 to request emergency heating repair dispatch in Oxnard.

Repair costs depend on the actual problem, not a flat rate. We charge $95 for a diagnostic visit, which is credited toward any repair you approve. The final price depends on the parts needed, how easy they are to obtain, how accessible your system is, and whether the repair is simple or complex.
After we diagnose the issue, your technician will explain the recommended repair and its cost before starting any work.
Deciding between repair and replacement depends on your system, not just its age. If your system is reliable, a single repair is often worth it. But if you have frequent repairs, heat exchanger issues, hard-to-find parts, or your system has never worked well, it may be time to consider replacement.
Factors like efficiency, duct condition, and whether switching to a heat pump makes sense for your home are also significant. Check out our energy-efficient HVAC and heat pump services for more information. California and utility incentives may help with replacement costs, but confirm the latest details before making plans.
Heat pumps can both cool and heat your home with the same outdoor unit, but heating problems differ from furnace issues because there’s no combustion. Common problems include the system getting stuck in cooling mode, defrost cycle problems, auxiliary heat running too long, weak airflow, or electrical issues.
If you notice refrigerant or electrical problems, you’ll need a qualified technician—these aren’t safe for homeowners to fix. Visit our heat pump services page to learn more about how we diagnose and repair these systems.
Getting seasonal maintenance before the heating season helps catch small problems before they become bigger ones. Between visits, you can check that your thermostat is set right. You can also check whether the filter looks dirty, make sure the breakers are on, and confirm that the vents aren’t blocked by furniture or storage.
Test and maintain Carbon Monoxide detectors as the manufacturer recommends. If you notice ongoing noises, smells, or performance problems, it’s time to call a professional. This is especially true for anything involving gas, combustion, electrical panels, or heat pump refrigerants. For scheduled services, see our HVAC maintenance option.
When homes stay closed during cooler weather, indoor air quality can worsen, especially if there are duct leaks or the system draws in extra dust. Coastal moisture can also rust outdoor equipment in some Oxnard homes, but not all. If duct leaks or airflow issues cause uneven heating, it’s wise to address them as part of your heating repairs.
Check out our indoor air quality, air duct cleaning, and insulation services if you think they might help—though not everyone needs all of them.
