Last updated: October 2026

Yes, Affordable Heating and Air installs ductless mini-split systems in Ventura, CA, using our Ventura County team based in Simi Valley. Replacing a heating and central air conditioner is never fun. But very pleased with Affordable Heating and Air from beginning to end. The price was fair, the communication was exceptional, they showed up when they said they would, and Humberto and Axzel who did the installation were professional, pleasant, conscientious, and knowledgeable. I would recommend Affordable to others without reservation.

A+ for Affordable Heating and Air from start to finish. I had multiple in-home estimates for mini split AC units and I’m so glad I decided to go with this company. They work hard to earn your business, meaning I received a lot of follow up estimate emails, but I chose affordable heating and air because of my technician, Benji. He was honest, thorough and extremely patient with me through the entire process. I had a ton of questions before, during and after installation and he always responded swiftly. He’s the best, and he’s funny! The company stands by their work and their service, and their pricing was reasonable and comparable to other local companies. I highly recommend them and would use them again for other home projects!

Mauricio was a breath of fresh air during an extremely stressful time. He helped us out during an emergency call, one of our AC units went out during an extreme heat wave. He gave us valuable honest options based on our situation. Our vacation rental home being occupied with a guest and it was the during the extreme heat wave! They helped us resolve the issue on the spot ! In the end our guest was happy with the turn out and had quick AC cooling that same evening! Price was also VERY fair - especially with last minute emergency call. I called my cousin in a different state to verify and he agreed with their price, that was very fair and actually very competitive! Maurico worked very quickly during this heat wave outside under the sun and we are so grateful for him and the wonderful office team!!! Invoicing, quotes and overall communication was 10 stars service. I deal with a lot of urgent situations running vacation rentals and deal with a lot of service contractors ! So nice when they understand your situation and do what it takes to solve the issue! Picture below is before! After pic coming soon!

Gosh—there are so many good things I could say about Affordable Heating and Air, and it truly began with that first text message. It included a photo and let me know a technician was on the way with a personalized quote. Then Benji called to confirm—personally—that he was about 10 minutes away. I replied, “Yes, I know—and I’ll let you in since I know what you look like.” We laughed about it, but I could immediately tell this was a thoughtful, customer-first company. The moment I met Benji, his warmth and friendliness stood out right away. He genuinely wanted to understand what our family needed and what we were hoping for with our HVAC system. He was patient, thorough, and considerate—right down to being prepared with shoe covers (we’re a no-shoes household). We reviewed a few options together, talked through the pros and cons, and he even entertained one possibility that many vendors had previously told me was too expensive and not worth pursuing. Benji ultimately made that “nearly impossible” option work for us and kept everything affordable—apparently that’s not just a name, it’s how they operate. He measured carefully, walked the property, and talked through the logistics of installing a five-unit ductless mini-split system. He also made plans to remove our old rooftop packaged system. He even understood our power company’s rebate program, helping us make the “affordable” part go even further. And that was just the quote process. Benji also helped us understand the payment options, including the financing program they offer. When it came to pricing details, he even brought the owner, Donna, onto the phone so we could fully understand everything. From start to finish, everyone we encountered felt genuinely nice, respectful, and welcoming—and we never once felt pressured or overlooked. We felt comfortable, appreciated, and most importantly, heard. A few days later, Benji returned with a team that specialized in mini-splits—and they were absolutely spectacular. They were a team of four who worked together so smoothly, like a well-orchestrated performance. The entire installation was completed in a single day (though it was a long one)—there was so much done, and I was truly amazed they managed it all. And it happened just in time, right before the latest heatwave hit—today’s high was 98! Our family is thrilled with our new mini-split system. More than that, I’m genuinely grateful to Affordable Heating and Air for helping bring our vision to life—from the first thoughtful message to the final results. Thank you, and especially thank you, Benji, Donna and Davide & team, for making this such a positive experience for our home.

Jasmine was very friendly and knowledgeable of the job she was performing. She also brought to my attention, future maintenance that will be needed, before the summer begins, to keep my AC working properly. She also metioned the CARE CLUB that you have, to save me money on service calls and additional discounts. Great service. Toni Broussard

Juan truly deserves Employee of the Month recognition. He is consistently friendly, professional, and genuinely kind in every interaction. What sets him apart is his reliability and work ethic—while others may attempt the job, Juan is the one who follows through and gets it done right the first time.

Why Ductless Mini-Splits Make Sense for Some Ventura Homes

Many older Ventura homes don’t have ductwork. Adding it later often means opening up walls and ceilings or looking for attic or crawlspace space that might not be there. A ductless system only needs a small hole in the wall for the refrigerant lines, making it an ideal fit for:

  • Homes without existing ductwork

  • Room additions and converted garages that were never on the main system

  • ADUs that need temperature control

  • A home office or bedroom that’s always too hot or too cold

  • Several rooms that need independent comfort

Our Ventura County HVAC services page covers the full range of services we provide here.

What is a Ductless Mini-Split?

A ductless mini-split is a heating and cooling system with an outdoor unit, such as a condenser or heat pump, connected to one or more indoor air handlers via refrigerant lines.

A small drain removes moisture, and the system has its own electrical connection. Each indoor unit comes with its own thermostat or remote, so you can control each room’s temperature separately.

Many mini-splits are heat pumps, so one system can both heat and cool. There are also cooling-only models, so check which type you’re getting. For more technical details, see our ductless mini-split installation guide.

What We Install in Ventura

We install both single-zone and multi-zone ductless systems, including heat pumps, from brands like Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, and Fujitsu. We choose equipment based on your room, home, and electrical system, not just a product first.

Single-Zone vs. Multi-Zone Systems

Single-ZoneMulti-Zone
SetupOne outdoor unit, one indoor unitOne outdoor unit, several indoor units
Best forOne hot bedroom, a home office, a garage conversion, an ADU, a room additionMultiple rooms, zoned comfort, whole-home ductless
ControlOne zoneEach room set independently
TradeoffsOnly conditions one spaceMore line-set routing and electrical planning; capacity and zone count depend on the specific equipment
Our installed range$3,000 to $5,000$7,000 to $15,000

The number of zones and their capacities depend on the manufacturer’s specs, so we check these for your specific equipment rather than giving a one-size-fits-all answer. The price ranges we mention are based on our work in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, not a direct quote. See the cost section below for details.

Mini-Split vs. Central AC

Neither is universally better. Here is how they compare for a typical Ventura-area home:

Ductless Mini-SplitCentral AC
Needs ductworkNoYes
Room-by-room controlYes, each indoor unitUsually one thermostat per zone
Best whenNo ducts, additions, ADUs, garages, problem roomsExisting ducts are sound and distribute well
AppearanceWall-mounted indoor units are visibleRegisters and vents
Duct lossesNoneLeaky or undersized ducts reduce performance
FiltrationEach indoor unit has its own filter, and many aren't designed for high-grade filtrationDucted systems can often accept higher-grade filters, subject to airflow and compatibility

A ductless system is usually suitable when adding ducts isn’t practical or when you only need to heat or cool certain rooms. Central AC might be better if your ductwork is in excellent shape, you want one system for the whole house, or you prefer registers instead of wall units.

If you’re deciding between the two, check out our AC installation, duct repair, and replacement services.

Coastal Ventura Installation Considerations

Salt in ocean air corrodes outdoor equipment faster, especially parts such as coil fins, cabinet fasteners, and electrical contacts. The risk is higher for homes closer to the water than for those farther inland.

Equipment Choice for Salt Exposure

For homes near the coast in Ventura, we use outdoor units with corrosion-proof coatings or, when possible, place them where they’re less exposed to salt air. No coating can make equipment completely corrosion-proof, so our goal is to slow down wear and make the unit easy to check.

Placement and Warranty

  • Placement: We make sure there’s enough space around the unit for airflow and easy access, so it’s not hidden where it can’t be cleaned or checked.
  • Warranty terms: Ask if the manufacturer’s warranty includes any conditions for homes near the coast.

Coastal Maintenance

It’s adviseable to have a technician handle salt buildup on the coils, since improper cleaning can damage the fins. Our HVAC maintenance Services include coastal corrosion checks. For more about how salt air affects HVAC equipment, see our coastal notes in Oxnard HVAC repair.

How Do We Size and Design a Mini-Split System?

Getting the right size is especially critical with mini-splits. If the system is too substantial, it won’t run efficiently, and if it’s too small, it won’t keep up.

We size your system based on your rooms and home, not just square footage or your old unit’s size. This usually means doing a Manual J load calculation or following the manufacturer’s recommended method, which includes:

  • Room size and ceiling height
  • Insulation, windows, and sun exposure
  • Occupancy and how the space is used
  • Any existing HVAC in the home
  • Electrical capacity and zone number
  • The equipment’s efficiency

What Happens During Installation?

Installing a mini-split involves handling refrigerant, electrical work, and equipment setup, so it’s a job for licensed professionals. Here’s what a typical project looks like:

  1. In-home consultation: we look at the rooms, existing equipment, and the electrical panel.

  2. Room measurements and load assessment to determine capacity.

  3. Equipment selection and indoor and outdoor unit placement.

  4. Electrical assessment, including whether a dedicated circuit or panel work is needed.

  5. Permit and Title 24 documentation where required.

  6. Line-set routing and wall penetration, with the opening sealed and the line set protected.

  7. Condensate pipe installation.

  8. Refrigerant line connections, pressure and leak testing, and evacuation.

  9. Electrical connections.

  10. Commissioning: We test heating and cooling operation, drainage, and safety controls.

  11. Remote or app setup and a customer walkthrough.

  12. Inspection and close-out where a permit applies.

Permits, Electrical Work, and Title 24

In the city of Ventura, permits are issued by the city’s Building & Safety Division. This requires a mechanical permit to install or replace equipment such as air-conditioning units and an electrical permit for associated electrical work.

Applications are submitted online. Properties outside city limits go to the county’s Building and Safety Division instead. Depending on the project, an installation may also involve a dedicated circuit, panel evaluation, Title 24 documentation, and independent field verification.

This may include refrigerant charge for heat pump systems. Requirements vary by scope and jurisdiction, so we confirm them for your project. See California 2026 HVAC regulations for the wider code context, and note that this is general information, not legal advice.

Efficiency, SEER2, Heat Pumps, and 2026 Incentives

SEER2, HSPF2, and Inverter Technology

Ductless systems are rated in SEER2 (cooling) and, for heat pumps, HSPF2 (heating). Inverter-driven, variable-speed compressors control their output rather than just turning them on and off, and some ductless models are much more efficient than the minimum required efficiency.

Ratings vary by model, so check the actual numbers rather than guessing. Learn more about energy-efficient HVAC systems and heat pump services.

Which 2026 Incentives Apply in Ventura?

Ventura is usually served by Southern California Edison, not LADWP, so Los Angeles rebates don’t apply here. Here’s what does and doesn’t apply:

ProgramApplies in Ventura?Notes
3C-RENYesProject-based incentives for single-family homes of 1 to 4 units that replace existing equipment with a heat pump. Paid through enrolled contractors, calculated from expected energy savings, and subject to funding and deadlines. Published 2026 examples are about $750 for a standard project and $1,500 for an equity-qualified project. Confirm whether your ductless system qualifies
SCELimitedThe Smart Energy Program is built around thermostats on central AC, so it generally doesn't fit ductless. Income-qualified ESA is separate
SoCalGasNot for mini-splitsIts rebates are for gas equipment
LADWPNoLos Angeles customers only
TECH / HEEHRAReservedSingle-family funds are fully reserved statewide
GO ZERONoRun by South Coast AQMD, which doesn't cover Ventura County
Federal 25CEndedNot available for property placed in service after December 31, 2025

Program rules and funding can change, and rebates aren’t guaranteed. Check before you buy, and see our California HVAC rebates guide for the latest information.

How Much Does Mini-Split Installation Cost in Ventura?

The cost depends on your project, and we’ll give you a written estimate after an in-home assessment. For reference, our installed prices in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties range from $3,000 to $5,000 for a single-zone system and $7,000 to $15,000 for a multi-zone system.

What Drives the Price?

  • Number of indoor units and zones
  • Equipment efficiency and capacity
  • Line-set length and routing
  • Electrical work, including dedicated circuit or panel changes
  • Wall access and outdoor unit placement
  • Permits and documentation
  • Corrosion-resistant equipment or protective measures for coastal exposure

Comparing Quotes and Financing

The lowest quote isn’t always the most valuable value, since shortcuts in line-set work or sizing might not show up until later. We offer financing. See our payment options.

How to Choose a Ductless Mini-Split Installer?

Before you sign, ask any contractor:

  • Is your CSLB license active, and does it show the right classification? Verify it on the CSLB license lookup.

  • How will you size the system, and can I see the calculation?

  • Is the estimate itemized in writing, with the exclusions stated?

  • Who pulls the permit, and what inspections apply?

  • How will you handle outdoor unit placement near the coast?

  • What are the labor and equipment warranty terms in writing?

  • If I’m applying for 3C-REN, are you enrolled in the program?

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you install ductless mini-splits in Ventura, CA?

Yes, our Ventura County team serves Ventura through our Simi Valley branch. If you need ductless mini-split installation in Ventura, call (805) 755-4074 for an in-home assessment and written estimate.

Often, yes. A ductless system only needs a small hole in the wall for line setup, so you don’t have to add ducts. Whether it’s right for you depends on your home’s layout, how many rooms you want to heat or cool, and your electrical setup, which we check during our visit.

The cost depends on the number of zones, equipment, line-set length, electrical work, and permits. Our installed prices in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties range from $3,000 to $5,000 for single-zone systems and $7,000 to $15,000 for multi-zone systems. We’ll give you a written estimate after assessing your home.

Pick a single-zone system for a single space, such as a bedroom, office, garage conversion, or ADU. Choose a multi-zone system if you want to control several rooms separately.

The number of zones and their capacity depend on the equipment, so we’ll confirm what works for your setup.

Heat pump models can produce both heat and cold. There are also cooling-only models, so make sure you know which one you’re getting. The heating and cooling power of your system depends on the equipment, the space, and how well the system is sized for your home.

Often, yes, especially for homes without ducts. But they’re not always the right choice. If your home has proper ductwork, central AC might be better. We’ll compare honestly.

Salt air can accelerate corrosion on outdoor units, so in coastal homes, we use corrosion-resistant coatings or position units to reduce exposure when possible. No coating is completely corrosion-proof, and the most effective approach depends on how close your home is to the coast.
